Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.Proverbs 22:6
Backpack Buddies
Lexington Elementary & Middle Schools
Backpack Buddies is a collaborative church and community partnership that seeks to increase student academic achievement by ensuring that all children have enough to eat over the weekend, when free and reduced breakfasts and lunches are not available. We typically feed around 60 kids each week during the school year. Our budget for the school year is roughly $13,500. This will provide 60 kids three dinners, two breakfasts, two lunches, and snacks each weekend during the school year.
There are several ways to help. Anyone interested in donating may give by mailing a check to Lexington United Methodist Church (P.O. Box 116; Lexington, TX 78947) and indicating “Backpack Buddies” on the memo line. You can also click here to give online. Different volunteer teams are needed during the Fall and Spring school semesters to pick up food from the store, put food packs together, and distribute food on Friday afternoons to students at Lexington Elementary and Middle School. Please contact the church office at (979) 773-2728 to connect with opportunities to volunteer.

School Volunteer Program
Fall and Spring Semesters
Lexington Elementary School
We have established a partnership with Lexington Elementary School to provide volunteers to help students improve their academic performance in reading and math. Volunteers may give as little or as much time as they would like each week and be connected with a student at a day and time that work with the volunteer and school schedule. Anyone interested in this ministry will complete a background check through the school before beginning and may contact the church office at (979) 773-2728 to get started.
